Hundreds of vehicles of various sizes have been deployed to support the relevant authorities and volunteers. Fujairah witnessed wide participation from emergency and rescue teams from the Emirate of Dubai, which provided essential assistance across various affected locations. On the ground, teams have been observed containing the effects of the floods by deploying equipment and field teams.
Mohammed Saif Al Afkham, Director General of Fujairah Municipality, confirmed that the swift directives issued by our wise leadership to support local teams in Fujairah contributed to accelerating work, rescuing those trapped, and clearing roads blocked by debris and rocks swept away by heavy rainfall through valleys and mountain channels. He also noted that no fatalities were recorded over the past two days due to the adverse weather, with injuries being promptly addressed by the competent authorities supported by specialized teams from across the UAE.
He further pointed out that the rescue teams succeeded in evacuating people trapped in houses and mountainous areas in record time, thanks to their high level of preparedness and capabilities, which were crucial in managing the flood situation and saving lives. The provision of heavy equipment and machinery for evacuations and logistical support helped mitigate the impact of the massive rainfall recorded in the emirate.
Al Afkham added that the intense downpour in a short period posed one of the major challenges, compounded by water reaching some electrical transformers, resulting in power outages in several residential and commercial areas. The Union for Water and Electricity is currently working to repair these transformers and restore power.
He stated that the relevant authorities provided urgent support to residents in the most affected areas—Al Suda, Al Faseel, and Sikamak—where the heavy rain inflicted the greatest damage. Residents were rescued and accommodated in hotels following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai (may God protect him).
Al Afkham also mentioned that state authorities are working to support local entities in Fujairah to quickly respond to and identify the needs of those affected, via coordination among the municipality, the Ministry of Community Development, and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, especially during this period of increased calls on the hotline at the Operations Room of Fujairah Municipality.
Engineer Khamees Al Noon, Director General of the Fujairah Areas Development Authority, praised the extensive efforts of the Authority in line with the high-level directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Federal Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah and Chairman of the Board of the Authority, regarding the improvement of citizens' housing conditions in the emirate.
He explained that the Authority is committed to conducting detailed studies to assess the needs of affected families for housing maintenance, following specific criteria designed to improve their living conditions, in addition to providing essential furniture for those in need.
He noted that, until now, no requests have been received from those affected by the floods and heavy rains. However, if any requests are submitted in the coming days, the Authority will take the necessary actions in accordance with the agreed conditions for eligible cases, including those with limited incomes and other needy groups.
Fujairah witnessed extensive participation from emergency and rescue teams from the Emirate of Dubai, including Dubai Ambulance Services, which provided vital support in various affected areas. Advanced ambulance crews and support units equipped with the necessary medical and rescue equipment were deployed; these teams provided essential assistance, evacuated the affected, treated the injured, and transported them to temporary shelter locations.
Members of the Authority's team and the rescue teams confirmed that they remain on high alert and are ready to respond immediately to any emergency by taking the necessary measures to protect lives and property in coordination with the relevant authorities. Saleh Al Maseedi, a member of the Emirates Auction team in Dubai, stated, "We arrived in Fujairah at 12:00 noon yesterday to provide support and assistance as part of federal and local work teams. Our support team comprises 120 drivers and assistants operating 100 vehicles of various sizes, ensuring comprehensive assistance for all types of vehicles that broke down inside tunnels and public squares across Fujairah."
He also noted that the efforts of the Emirates Auction teams in Dubai contributed to handling more than 150 vehicles, with varied rescue operations including extracting families trapped in their vehicles and transporting vehicles from road centers and tunnels, all aimed at facilitating the movement of other vehicles and reopening traffic.
